G.A. Henty was a 19th century British novelist known for historical action and adventure books, many of which were best sellers in his day. Even today, classics like The Dragon & The Raven (1886), For The Temple (1888), Under Drake's Flag (1883) and In Freedom's Cause (1885) are still widely read.

The Queen's Cup has a bit of a slow start, but once going, you can't put it down. Even though there is a touch of romance in this story, my son will enjoy this story with the military fighting, the yacht races, the search for the villain across the ocean, and the final meeting between the hero and the antagonist. What I like is how clearly the difference between a life willing to forgive even serious grievances and the one unwilling to forgive a minor offense as a young boy overlap and the after affects to both themselves and the ones around them.Product details

The Queen Cup G A Henty 9781530034987 Books Reviews
The content of all of G.A. Henty's books is phenomenal. As a family, we are looking forward to reading a new-to-us title. However, the edition produced by Echo publishing is extremely cheap and unimpressive. The type is small, spacing poor, paper flimsy, and the cover thin. Will probably return and hunt for a better edition. Too bad, such a bad container for such good content!
Didn't even bother to read beyond the first few pages. Just not my kind of book. Others may like it though so don't let my 1 star influence you.
Well written historical story. A joy to read.
We thoroughly enjoyed this Henty work. It was not so much like others he has written that are more of the historical fiction genre. This was more of a novel with a plot line and plenty of suspense.
More of a novel and a bit less historical than most Henty books. But still well worth reading. Looking forward to more Henty novels.
I enjoy Henty's books, but this one is different than many of his others. A small portion of it is what most would consider "historical fiction," but mostly it's a regular novel that's mostly a romance. It's a good romance and involves a lot of adventure, but I didn't learn as much about history as I normally do when reading Henty's books.
